Decades of art later, still learning everyday.
Thank you very much for the watch! I appreciate your support! 😍
Thank you so much for the fav!!
Your subtle skin tones and the softness of the pose shines through. Quite amazing how you didn't lose any of the natural pose for stiffness here!
Thank you! I think it may have something to do with watching Glen Vilppu videos. He spoke about the flow and how to make it seem less stiff. Although with my portrait studies, it is easier to just copy what is there but I do have a problem here and there with my own original works. It is quite a tricky thing to master 😄
The skin tones...I have a problem with creating dull artwork. I was getting inspired by the likes of Rossdraws, whos artwork is absolutely colorful and beautiful. So I started to experiment. After I draw an image, it tends to look a bit dull and washed out. I would go over the image, on another layer, adding different colors. So adding more pinks in one layer, adding more orange in another. I would also set a transparency in photoshop...so like an overlay or something..which ever did the job. Layering color makes the skin pop more and look more alive. We have sub surface scattering on our skin and that makes our skin have different tones, not just dark or light according to the sun/light direction. So it is sort of a cheat. I say cheat because I for the life of me cannot think to do that while I am drawing. Its something I need to add in after the "meat and bones" of the artwork is done xD That is just my unnecessarily long response
Yeah but it worked so beautifully here! I finally just got into a setup where I will be able to start portrait drawing on my PC again. really looking forward to it.
thank you for taking so much time to express parts of your process, I will have to look into Glen Vilppu!
You have been a valuable resource and are obviously a talented artist!
I think layering in your own process is a beautiful way to integrate the images into your mind the future, no shame in the process of learning to be a great!
Of course, it's stunning work!
